The decadal sea level variability observed in the Indian Ocean tide gauge records and its association with global climate modes

Decadal sea level variability of the Indian Ocean is studied using long-term tide gauge observations 17 stations. The existence close association between and global decadal climate modes, such as Pacific Oscillation (PDO) and/or Atlantic Multidecadal (AMO) revealed in most data sets. An anti-phase evolution with PDO index identified regions west coast India, east India western Australia. Moreover, related found to be stronger at stations along compared that ruling out remote forcing from equatorial Ocean. On other hand, station Mumbai more than 100 years shows an in-phase relationship AMO on timescales, whereas very weak Fremantle where similar available. analysis pressure (SLP), rainfall winds over tropical indicates strong especially Arabian Sea region, strongly suggesting observed may have larger spatial signatures. During positive phase AMO, region characterized by large fall SLP a cross flow towards land mass, which are primarily responsible for anomalies (SLAs) adjacent India.
